What does your personality type say about your salary potential, managerial prowess and likelihood of success as an entrepreneur? Well Truity Psychometrics (2015) has done a survey against the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to find out. This personality indicator was developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers based on the typological theories proposed by Carl Jung (1921). Today, it is used by the majority of Fortune 100 companies.
Interestingly, the Truity research indicates that the highest income achievers are ENTJs, and ESTJs. It seems being a thinking and judging type is good for earnings. That is great because they tend not to have the highest job satisfaction ratings. Extraverts, Sensors, Feelers, and Judgers are the happiest in job satisfaction. See money isn’t everything! ENFPs and ENTPs are most likely to be self-employed. I fall on the cusp of this one so I’m willing to vouch for it.
Are you curious about your type? You can do the test online.
This is also a great tool for managers. Have your best performers take the test. Then when you are hiring, have applicants take the test. It isn’t a reason to not hire someone but it may give you some ideas of things to be curious about as you move into the final interviewing process.
